After a tepid offensive opening week to the 2016 season the New York Mets went into power mode, launching a team record 19 home runs in six games. If their bats are just starting to thaw out we are going to see a season for the ages.
Neil (DannyWho?) Walker (6) and Yoenis Cespedes (4) led the charge. Lucas Duda (2) and Michael Conforto (2) picked up the slack. Curtis Granderson (2) wants into this party and David Wright (2) shows why he's still the captain by setting the tone in Philadelphia.
Now batting third for the Mets, Michael Conforto.
This sounds soooo sweet and I hope we'll be hearing this for many years to come.
Lags gets two cards for that catch. Of course one must be a GIFcard because you have to see it.
I owed Jacob a regular issue card and here is his 2016 mfc. So happy and relieved that his newborn son Jaxon is outta the woods, and the whole family is together at home. deGrom will pitch against Atlanta on Sunday.
Does Logan Verrett deserve a card, or what!?!?
He's happy to help? I'm happy to make him a card.
>>On April 18th and 19th in Philadelphia the Mets hit four or more homers in consecutive games for the fifth time in franchise history and for the first time since Sept. 28-29, 2005.
>> The last time the Mets hit six or more homers in a game was Aug. 24, 2015, at Philadelphia when they hit a franchise-record eight.
>>The Mets have won 20 of their last 27 games in Philadelphia, outscoring the Phillies 209-146. They have hit 31 homers in their last 13 games at Citizens Bank Park.
31 in 13 games!
We only have the 19 home runs so far this season so I don't see us breaking the franchise record for long balls in a month, but we certainly have a chance to eclipse that achievement during the 2016 season.
I would love to be forced to make more record breaker cards (twist my arm) in 2016. So break a few more records guys.
What's it mean?
We aren't setting the world on fire like the Nats have, but everyone is healthy and things are looking good.
Lets Go Mets!
