Hey, Edgardo Alfonzo! We fired you as minor league manager for winning a championship--here, have a Hall of Fame induction! I mean, OF COURSE he should be in their Hall, and probably should have been long ago. But the timing is weird. Maybe they should have inducted Beltrán and Mickey Callaway and made it a theme?
ReplyDeleteI'd say Sid Fernandez, John Stearns, and Howard Johnson should probably be the next group. Unless they're ready to go ahead and put Wright in. Then there's the question of whether or not to induct Beltrán despite the events which led to him getting dismissed as manager, and José Reyes despite the domestic abuse case.
In response to your first paragraph: Well, we all know the Mets do things bassakwards.
DeleteI like your choices for the next group. When is Wright officially eligible?
I don't feel Beltran's recent problem should be a factor, nor Reyes's off field stupidity. I go by what they achieved on the field. I know many don't feel as I do, but that's just the way I roll.
Thanks for commenting Brett & LETS GO METS in 2020!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So the first 9 inductees were all non-players?
ReplyDeleteHow interesting for the fans! :(
How was Tom Seaver not a slam-dunk as the first inductee?
Great cards as always. I think Howard Johnson is the most deserving player not in hall.
